Floating Eco Pavilion at Arlington Business Park
A state-of-the-art pavilion for shared meetings and inspirational events
Pushing the boundaries of conventional working environments.
Set around a picturesque lake and beautiful parkland, Arlington Business Park is a modern working environment with the benefits of outdoor living. Designed in collaboration with TP Bennett, this unique pavilion is at the heart of this modern business development. Our expertise in building and engineering floating spaces enabled this ambitious project to be realised.
Overcoming challenges
We built this pavilion offsite to ensure minimal disruption to the park and its tenants. Despite being unable to bring heavy vehicles within fifty-five metres of the lake, we devised a solution to safely deliver and install this floating space with minimum fuss.
Accessed via a bridge over the Lake, the glass Pavilion can be booked exclusively by the Park tenants.
The media centre is a handmade credenza designed using traditional air dried oak from Castle Howard in Yorkshire and bespoke glass doors by West Country Artist Antonia MacGregor. Handcrafted into a stunning piece by London Furniture Maker Max Payne. It’s fitted to give the Pavilion full conference facilities.
Bringing the outside in
We employed a combination of imaginative architecture, specialist engineering and boat-building technologies to create the pavilion. A bridge over the lake provides access to this unique space. Four columns support an over-sailing anodized aluminium roof, creating a sense of enclosure and shelter while allowing 360-degree views across the lake through floor-to-ceiling glazing.
Designing for low impact
We produced bespoke engineering for this project and using our specialist piling techniques, we eliminated the need for any digging during construction. Our solutions enable the pavilion to float and remain in position, even during strong winds, while preserving the lining of the lake.
This inspirational meeting space brings visibility to the creative activity and interaction that takes place among Arlington’s business community. As an asset to the park, it captivates new and prospective tenants, and is an outstanding example of how we can create uplifting working environments while maximising the location.
